Nurturing new and emerging artists is a core part of what we do at The Other Room, and we’re looking to take talent and offer a genuine professional pathway into the industry.
Our main formal training opportunity is with our Trainee Directors Scheme, which provides at least two emerging directors a year the opportunity to work on attachment with us, assisting on professional productions staged here as well as working with our team throughout the year to expand their practice. Assistant Directors will assist the director with all elements of the production including casting, design, research and rehearsals. We want The Other Room to be the place where as a young artist you get your first show, and from our second year at least one TOR show will be made by an emerging director, who has been supported via our Trainee Directors Scheme. In order to work as a Trainee Director at The Other Room, you must be Welsh or Wales based.
We also offer informal development opportunities throughout the year. Have something you can offer us? We’re always excited to hear from people with a genuine interest in arts management, administration, producing and marketing who are looking for work experience. If you’d like work with The Other Room in an organisational capacity, drop us a line by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, make sure to tell us a little bit about yourself and why you'd like to work with us, and we’ll get back to you.
