Presenting The Other Room’s brand new and revamped scratch platform; SEEN.
Designed for emerging Welsh and Wales based theatremakers and companies, this themed monthly event throws open our doors and makes our little theatre yours for the evening.
So... do you have work in development that you would like to test in front of an audience?
It might be something you've been working on for a while, or something brand new; it might even be an idea that you have only just started working on - we aren't looking for the finished product! Wild and wonderful voices of all kinds on our stage are what SEEN is all about; we want to give creatives in Wales that vital platform to experiment.
Here’s how it works.
Each SEEN invites responses on a certain theme - it might be specific, or it might be quite broad, but we’re looking to programme each event around a common theme so that each event has a link.
We’ll put up details of the kind of submissions we’re currently seeking here, on this page, monthly, so keep checking back here to see what we’re currently looking for, and if you have something that fits the bill, email us and let us know!
Each SEEN is programmed by a different member of The Other Room’s team, so once submissions have closed we’ll be in touch to let you know if we’d like you to scratch the work at the following month’s SEEN.
We’ll then work with you to get you in the best place to present that work, be that helping you to build a team to get the work out there or simply providing your company with space to rehearse. Whatever it needs, we’ve got it covered.
Then it’s easy, really – each SEEN has three slots, three pieces and then a tonne of valuable feedback. We'll introduce each performance and after everyone has performed the audience will be invited to go grab a drink before returning for an informal discussion chaired by whichever member of The Other Room’s team has programmed the event.
Prefer to sit back and watch the drama unfold?
No problem! Tickets to each event are just £5!
SEEN is an invitation into the creative process and a chance to be there at the very beginning. It is also a chance to join in, have a drink, take a seat and let the creatives know what you think. You can offer your thoughts and help shape the development of work that could end up anywhere in the future.
This month’s SEEN is Kicking and Screaming and you can find out more about that event and buy your tickets HERE.
Not quite sure how you fit in?
Even if we can't offer you a slot now, we’d love to meet you, not least as we might be able to offer something at a SEEN in the future - or perhaps you might even give us an idea of how to theme a future event.
So, if you're not sure, or you’d simply just like to make yourself known to us, why don’t you apply and let us make the decision!

SEEN at The Other Room: New Tricks
This month’s SEEN will be complimenting the Young Artist’s Festival by offering a platform for those who don’t identify as a 'young' artist. Perhaps you are an experienced writer trying out something new, a seasoned actor who needs that push to finally put pen to paper or just someone who has been around the block a few times and wants to show the young’uns how it’s done.
For this event, we’re looking for pieces of up to 20 minutes in length, so if you think you fit the bill, email email@example.com by May 29th, 5pm and include your name, contact details and a short paragraph about your piece, attaching anything that you’ve written so far.
Artist Expressions of Interest
We’re also continually taking Expressions of Interest on a rolling basis from creative people of all disciplines! Actors, Directors, Writers, Producers; if you’re interested in being involved in SEEN or you simply want to find out more about the event, get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org today and we’ll do our best to involve you however we can.
