'Life in Close-Up' revealed!
Hello.
We are delighted to announce the three shows that form our opening season Life in Close-Up.
Blasted by Sarah Kane
Blasted shook audiences and appalled critics in equal measure when it premiered at The Royal Court in 1995. What begins as a chamber piece about dysfunctional relationships, set in a hotel room in Leeds, fractures and shatters into a brutal portrait of the realities of war. Not one for the easily shocked and shot through with gallows humour, Blasted is a seminal work that defined a generation.
Directed by Kate Wasserberg
Performed 17th Feb - 7th Mar
The Dying of Today by Howard Barker
A man walks into a barbershop with the worst news there has ever been. The conversation that follows will destroy two lives and an entire civilisation in this dreadfully funny play that typifies the strangeness, wit, and grandeur of Barker’s work.
Directed by Kate Wasserberg
Performed 24th Mar - 11th Apr
and A Good Clean Heart by Alun Saunders
This brand new bilingual play by young playwright Alun Saunders is a coming of age story about two brothers raised apart, in different families speaking different languages. With animated surtitles in both languages that move around the set and even onto the actors’ bodies, this is a funny, moving play and truly accessible for Welsh and non-Welsh speakers alike.
Directed by Mared Swain
Performed 28th Apr - 16th May
