I write...stories. That's all. Stories. This isn't a story anyone wants to hear.
In 1995 a new play by an unknown writer exploded onto the stage. Originally performed in a small room above the Royal Court Theatre, Blasted brought home the horrors of a distant war with a fierce intensity that changed the face of British theatre.
Blasted shook audiences and appalled critics in equal measure when it premiered at The Royal Court in 1995. What begins as a chamber piece about dysfunctional relationships, set in a hotel room in Leeds, fractures and shatters into a brutal portrait of the realities of war. Not one for the easily shocked and shot through with gallows humour, Blasted is a seminal work that defined a generation.
