“It’s near impossible to know what the heck to expect when you walk into The Other Room… It’s a place you sink into and out of after being drowned in a storm of story and emotion.”
★★★★ Get The Chance
Seanmhair
by Hywel John
Seanmhair (pronounced shen a var, meaning ‘Grandmother’ in Scott’s Gaelic) chronicles a chance meeting between two children on the streets of Edinburgh, that leads to a terrible reckoning, leaving Jenny and Tommy forever bound together by blood and fate. Brutal and beautiful, Hywel John's play glimmers and cuts like a jewel, fusing the past, present and future of Jenny’s life, and smashing together the raw epic romance with guttural urban poetry to tell the story of a secret generational legacy of love, violence and fury.
Seanmhair would be founding Artistic Director, Kate Wasserberg’s final production at The Other Room and the first production at The Other Room to tour to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; playing in Bedlam for the entire month of August 2017.
Director: Kate Wasserberg
Cast: Sian Howard, Molly Vevers, Hannah McPake (later Jo Freer for the E Edinburgh run)
